12 Islands Greek Taverna Makes its Debut

August 29, 2013 at 7:08 AM

MILLBURN, NJ – A little piece of the sunny Mediterranean has opened up in downtown Millburn in the form of 12 Islands Greek Taverna.

Owner Manny Niotis said they are having a “soft opening” this week, and not really announcing a grand opening just yet. Niotis has owned and operated numerous restaurants in the area for 35 years and is confident that Twelve Islands will be a success.

The menu consists mainly of what Niotis calls “classic, original Greek cuisine,” including fresh fish grilled over charcoal with some lemon and olive oil; clean bright flavors that let the fresh ingredients shine through.  Locals will no longer have to trek into the city to find this type of cuisine, which has exploded in popularity.

The restaurant features about 60 seats inside, with an additional 40 seats on the patio out back, which is flanked by attractive new landscaping, and few more tables on the sidewalk in front. The dining room plays up the restaurant’s Mediterranean roots with tasteful nautical décor and blue and white accents. The well-trained staff is warm and welcoming.

12 Islands Greek Taverna is located at 45 Main St., Millburn, (973) 376-4300.
