A Chorus Line - One Singular Success!

MILLBURN, NJ - The house was completely sold out Friday night as the MHS Limelight players put on a spectacular performance of A Chorus Line. This performance was especially important to seniors, as this is their final performance on the MHS stage. With auditions for this show beginning basically at the start of the school year, the cast rehearsed and rehearsed to make everything perfect for opening night. This past week was also rather busy, as the MHS stage crew joined the cast for "tech week" where sound and lights were set and rehearsed with for Friday night. Everything ran perfectly last night.

Opening on the night of July 25, 1975 and originally running over 6,000 times, A Chorus Line has become a world-renowned production with nine Tony awards under its belt as well as a 1976 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Centering on 17 Broadway actors all vying for spots in an upcoming Broadway production that only calls for 4 boys and 4 girls, A Chorus Line gives audiences a behind-the-scenes look into the unpredictable and challenging world of show-business. Today it is the sixth longest-running Broadway show ever, and it continues to be put on in theaters around the world, including our very own auditorium right here in Millburn.

With an additional world-renowned list of musical numbers, such as "I Hope I Get It" and the finale "One", parts of A Chorus Line still make its way into movies and television. In the film The Muppets Most Wanted (2014), "I Hope I Get It" is performed with a Muppet twist.

The audience was amazed by the stellar acting that the Limelight players always bring to the stage. Catch A Chorus Line on March 4th at 7:30 PM in the MHS Auditorium if you missed it last night!
