ORANGE, NJ - Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Orange Police Director John Wade have announced that authorities are investigating an incident in Orange , NJ, in which four people were shot, including a seventeen year old male, who was fatally wounded. 

Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Thursday (4/14/16), Orange police officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Taylor Street on reports of a shooting in progress. Arriving officers located the youth, who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and he was rushed to University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:10 p.m.  The victim has been identified as Davon Jones, age 17, of Orange. 

Published media reports stated that South Orange police were called in for mutual assistance.

Three additional males, who were all suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds, were also located and treated at area hospitals, according to Fennelly.

This incident is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Major Crimes Task Force. The investigation is active and ongoing at this time, according to Fennelly. Anyone with information is asked to contact Task Force detectives at (877) 847-7432 or (973) 621-4586.
