BLOOMFIELD, NJ - Kyle Mazer pitched a two-hitter and Millburn won its baseball season opener, 3-1, over Bloomfield on Monday.
The Millers erased a 1-0 deficit in the sixth inning, when they scored all three of their runs. Freshman third baseman Ben Chrzanowski, playing in his first varsity game, confirmed the program's faith for starting a ninth-grader right away by singling in a run during the rally.
Connor Lally delivered a two-run single with two out in the sixth to give Millburn a 2-1 lead before Chrzanowski followed with his run-scoring hit.
Mazer allowed one walk and struck out six in an 88-pitch gem for Millburn.
