MILLBURN, NJ - The Millburn baseball team rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Seton Hall Prep, 3-2, on Monday.
Millburn (7-4) avenged a 6-5 loss to Seton Hall Prep on April 6 in which Seton Hall had rallied from a deficit to win in the late innings.
Senior right-hander Kyle Mazer (1-0) pitched a complete-game five-hitter for the victory. Mazer struck out seven batters and walked four. Millburn also collected only five hits against John Ariza of Seton Hall (9-2), who struck out nine, walked one and did not allow an earned run. Seton Hall committed four errors.
Mazer gave a welcome break to the overworked Millers' pitching staff after a 19-16 loss to South Plainfield on Saturday by going the route.
Millburn trailed, 2-1, entering the bottom of the seventh, but a two-run throwing error by Seton Hall with two out and the bases full enabled the Millers to come from behind. Ben Chrzanowski and Oren Abbott had singles in the rally.
