MILLBURN, NJ - Second-seeded Millburn survived a scare and rallied with a five-run fifth inning to defeat Bridgewater-Raritan, 6-5, in the first round of the Section 2, Group 4 state baseball tournament on Monday.

Bridgewater-Raritan (6-18) came in as the 15th seed, but the Panthers have played one of the tougher schedules in New Jersey and have now lost nine games by two runs or less. Bridgewater-Raritan led, 3-1, going to the bottom of the fifth inning.

In the home fifth, an RBI ground out by Ben Pampush and an RBI single by Peter Serruto drew Millburn (15-8) even, 3-3. Oren Abbott followed with an RBI double to make it 4-3, and Ben Sinins added a two-run double for a 6-3 cushion.

Ben Chrzanowski pitched the final three innings to earn the victory in relief of Kyle Mazer, who pitched the first four. Ben Chrzanowski allowed two runs, in earned, struck out three and walked none.
