SUMMIT, NJ - Ben Lin of Short Hills and Millburn High School graduate (Class of 2013) recently competed at the 2016 Olympic trials in Omaha, NE. Lin. He currently attends Williams College in Williamstown, MA and qualified to swim the 100 backstroke.
A rising Senior, Lin began swimming at the Summit YMCA when he was 5 years old and progressed through the Y’s swim program and swam competitively for Millburn High School. This Olympic trials and qualifiers determine who will represent the USA when the nation competes in Rio de Janeiro this summer.
Summit Area YMCA head coach Laura Riddell accompanied Lin as he swam under the Summit YMCA banner. “Ben is the youngest swimmer to ever make the Summit YMCA swim team,” said Riddell. “His passion to compete was evident at a young age and we are honored that he chose to compete under our banner. Our entire swim team is so proud of him, as are his parents who drove the 16 hours to Nebraska to watch him participate in a milestone event.”
During his time at Millburn High School, Lin won several swim medals and titles including an Essex County/ECC swim record for the 100 meter butterfly in 2013. Lin swims the butterfly and back stroke for Williams.
