MILLBURN, NJ - The Millburn boys soccer team advanced in the Section 2, Group 4 state tournament and avenged an earlier loss in the process.

Millburn defeated neighboring rival Columbia, 2-0, in the sectional quarterfinals on Friday to move on to Tuesday's semifinal round. Columbia had defeated the Millers, 2-1, earlier this season.

Sam Meyerowitz put Millburn (12-5-1) on the board with 15 minutes left in the opening half with an assist from Jack Marx for a 1-0 lead. With 17 minutes to go in the second half, Ben Kessler connected, assisted by Meyerowitz, to extend the lead to 2-0.

Millburn, which got four saves from  Kyle Speckhart, will host Newark East Side in the sectional semifinal on Tuesday. That will be the third meeting between the two Essex County teams this season, with the two teams playing to a scoreless tie once and Millburn winning the other matchup, 1-0.

Neiman Marcus personnel report a black male wearing a red hat, black winter coat, and tan backpack concealed 2 pairs of headphones valued at $498.00 in his backpack and left the store without making payment.
