Millburn High School’s Drama Club will celebrate its 13th Annual Millburn Cares Performance on Wednesday, June 17 at 7 p.m. in the Millburn High School Auditorium with its student-created and starring production of  "Broadway's Heroes and Villains," celebrating the great songs of heroes and villains of the stage. Show tunes will include, but are not limited to selections from Shrek, Little Shop of Horrors, Wicked, Hairspray, Chicago, Chaplin and many more.

The concert is open to the public and all are invited and encouraged to attend. Tickets are $10 and again this year proceeds will go to Broadway House for Continuing Care in Newark. This event, hosted by the MHS Drama club, has raised funds that have gone specifically toward improving the educational curriculum and technology that are a part of Broadway House's vocational and rehabilitative programs. In 2012, the drama club purchased and donated 5 Sony Tablets to Broadway House.  Over the course of 13 years, Millburn Cares has raised over $26,000 for AIDS/HIV causes.  This year, the club intends to purchase with donations an LCD projector and stand for Broadway House so that it is possible for residents and patients to view live streaming video for events they are unable to attend.

Drama Club advisor Suzanne Snyder says, “Every year the talent at Millburn Cares has blown audiences away, but perhaps more importantly, the time and effort the Drama Club students put into raising money and awareness all year long pays off when they can give back to Broadway House. I am so proud of the way the event has always been able to unite students from all circles and class levels who demonstrate a variety of talent. The more than 50 student volunteers involved care deeply about this cause, and about using their talent to help those in need.”
