CAN DO Invites Public to Free Yoga Classes at Cora Hartshorn Arboretum

SHORT HILLS, NJ – Free outdoor yoga classes will be offered every Monday in June at 6:30 PM at the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum, presented by CAN DO Fitness Clubs. The free yoga classes will begin this Monday, June 3, at the arboretum located at 324 Forest Drive in Short Hills.

This the third year that CAN DO has presented free classes in the area.  Last year, classes were held at Taylor Park.  The move to Cora Hartshorn Arboretum will allow for a bit more privacy in a more serene setting, as participants work out to the music of the birds and the wind (and this year, the cicadas).

“This is our way of bringing the community together,” said Maggie Stevens, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at CAN DO. She originated the plan to offer the free classes after she fell in love with yoga herself three years ago, and hopes that many novices come and try it out.  Classes will be led by CAN DO’s popular yoga instructor, Namrata.

There is no pre-registration necessary.  Just bring a towel and some water.  Co-sponsor, prAna, the maker of yoga-wear, is providing all participants with a prAna headband, which will be part of a goodie bag.  There will also be raffles for yoga mats and more surprises.

In the event of inclement weather, classes may be moved indoors to the Short Hills CAN DO.  Call the arboretum at 973.376.3587 if it looks like rain.

“We are always looking for different ways that the community can enjoy the beauty of the arboretum,” said Judy Trigg, Executive Director, Cora Hartshorn Arboretum.  “An outdoor yoga class is a wonderful way to experience nature and get in touch with your inner-self”
