MILLBURN, NJ - The innovative Complete Streets project is on its way to becoming a reality in Millburn Township. Construction will commence on or about July 2016 and completion is anticipated sometime in fall of 2017.
According to the Township, "A comprehensive Complete Streets project addressing pedestrian safety, traffic flow, intersection congestion and traffic calming is a complex process requiring thorough assessment of a myriad of factors both internal and external to our community. We are committed to taking on this challenge and addressing these critical factors to improve our downtown. We encourage residents to review the conceptual plans, ask questions and provide feedback."
Significant capital improvements will be made at the cost of approximately $8 million, which the Township will fund via a municipal bond. Many residents support the investment as they desire to improve the downtown experience for business owners and visitors alike.
Artist renderings of the new downtown show dated sidewalks and vehicle lanes transformed into a modernized, mulifunctional throughway to accomodate pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
