SHORT HILLS, NJ - The Cora Hartshorn Arboretum, a very special 16-acre nature conservancy located in Millburn/Short Hills, a peaceful but wonderfully dynamic nature sanctuary with remarkable historical significance dating back to the very early roots of our community. It’s a beautiful place to walk, run, hike, explore, camp and spend great family time together in a delightfully unique natural environment. Even more important, it’s been an invaluable center of learning for our children for many decades, a place where nearly every local student visits at one time or another to learn about nature from the Arboretum’s incredible staff of teaching professionals. The Arboretum continues to play a vital role in developing our children, and also our adults, into environmentally aware, responsible wards of our natural resources.

The Arboretum is proud to announce that next month, we will begin construction on an amazing NEW EXHIBIT in the historic Stone House, located right on the grounds of the Arboretum. Our current exhibit space is decades-old and failing, and the cost of maintenance far exceeds the value to the facility. The new exhibit space is designed by the renowned and innovative team at Whirlwind Creative in New York City and will be a state-of-the-art, museum quality learning space with advanced, hands-on environmental programming elements for children and adults to learn about nature and native species. It will be an amazing addition to the Arboretum’s teaching facilities and programming offerings, and we are very excited to move the project forward for completion in April of 2017.

The fundraising goal is $150,000, and the arboretum has already raised over $$112,000 totaling 75.33% toward that objective. The Arboretum is asking the community to invest in the environmental learning opportunities for our children and community by making a tax-deductible donation. As a special note, if anyone chooses to donate $500 or more, they will be honored on Stone House’s NEW EXHIBIT donor panel, made with native wood from the grounds of the Arboretum!

Additional information and a video detailing the NEW EXHIBIT is available at http://hartshornarboretum.org/support/stone-house-nature-center/ The Cora Hartshorn Arboretum is located at 324 Forest Drive South, Short Hills, NJ 07078.
