Down the Block, Inc., which has paid bills totaling more than $275,000 for Township residents in need, welcomes Marguerite (Margo) Greenfield, Caryl Jacobs and Varuth (Nu) Suwankosai to its Board of Directors.  Margo Greenfield is special counsel to the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice, and she will be assuming the role of secretary for Down the Block.  Caryl Jacobs, formerly Associate General Counsel at Saks Incorporated, will be outreach coordinator for Down the Block.  Nu Suwankosai is a member of the Investments team at Oxford Properties.  He will be contributing to the fundraising efforts of Down the Block.

Returning Board members are Tyler Foster, Dr. Lisa Jacobs, Jonathan Justice, Wendy Minocha, Diane Nelson, David Sotnick, and Lauren Teetsel.  We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Lisa Jacobs and David Sotnick will take the reigns as co-Presidents.  Furthermore, it is with tremendous gratitude that we acknowledge the efforts of Jeffrey Beckerman and Down the Block’s founder, Wendi Weill, whose terms have come to an end.  Sotnick says "While we are sad to see Jeff and Wendi leave our Board, we are so glad to have Caryl, Margo and Nu join in Down the Block's mission of helping neighbors facing unforeseen financial setbacks.  Unfortunately there is still a need for Down the Block's program, and in 2014 we helped the highest number of community residents as we have since our founding."  Jacobs is grateful and amazed each year at the support Down the Block receives from the broad Millburn/Short Hills community, commenting that "without the help from the Township’s school administrators, clergy, and so many of our residents and businesses, we couldn’t survive as an organization."

Down the Block is a locally established 501(c)3 organization that pays for goods, services and basic needs for Millburn Township residents who meet eligibility requirements, and who successfully complete an application and screening process.  All applications and disbursements are kept strictly confidential.
