NEWARK, NJ – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose announced today that the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department, is investigating the fatal shooting of Tyiere Parks, 22, of Newark.
Parks was shot this morning at 12:14 am. He was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:10 a.m.
The shooting occurred in the 800 block of Clinton Avenue near the intersection of Fabyan Place in Newark.
Police responded to the location because of a report of shots fired. The investigation is active and ongoing. At this time, no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.
