ESSEX COUNTY, NJ - Essex County, will be conducting an areal larval control operation tomorrow, May 21 in conjunction with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection Office of Mosquito Control.
The operation will take place from 6:00 a.m. through 8:00 p.m.
The larval control measures are due, in part, to the large amount of rain the state has received over the past several weeks. During the course of the day, county officials will be treating the waters in the Passaic River floodplains area. Millburn is one of the towns that will be treated. The others are Fairfield, West Caldwell, Roseland and Livingston.
During the day, residents in Millburn may see a low flying helicopter spraying granules from its sides. The granules are a naturally occurring larvicide, and county officials have stressed that they are naturally occurring larvicides and harmless to humans and animals.
Any further questions can be directed to the County's Mosquito Control hotline, which can be found at 973-239-3366, ext. 2480.
