Welcome Back! And welcome to the first Miller Mail of the year. 

Miller Mail is a weekly digest of important announcements from the school district, notices of upcoming meetings, school and community events that may be of interest to all families throughout the district. Please be sure you have activated your Edline account and have updated it with your email address(es) in order to receive this and communications from your teachers, administrators and PTO. If you know of anyone in the community who would like to receive Miller Mail please ask them to email nancy.dries@millburn.org to be added to the list.

Thank you to all families who completed this summer’s Back to School update. There are still a number of families who need to login to PowerSchool to complete the process. Please do it before the first day of school, to be certain all of your information is up to date, and that you will be included in the PTO Directory. Thank you!

BOARD OF EDUCATION

--All Board of Education meetings are held at the Education Center at 7:45 p.m., 434 Millburn Avenue, unless otherwise noted. All members of the community are invited and encouraged to attend BOE meetings. The meeting agenda is posted on the website calendar by the Friday before the meeting. Click on the date to download the agenda. Meeting minutes are posted after they have been approved at a BOE meeting.

Girls Field Hockey Clinic - Sunday, September 18th

Registration is now open for a field hockey clinic to be held Sunday morning, September 18th from 9am-11am at Millburn High School.

The clinic, which is hosted by the Millburn Varsity coaches and players, is open to girls currently in 5th-8th grades.

Community 9/11 Fifteenth Anniversary Remembrance

The Community Congregational Church of Short Hills is hosting a town-wide, multi-faith prayer service in observance of the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks - on Sunday, September 11th at 10:30am.  The service includes a brief flag ceremony (and taps), and prayers for peace from several faith traditions. 

Cub Scouts Information Session

Cub Scout Pack 17 is having an information session for parents who might be interested in having their son participate in scouts.  The Pack 17 info session is on Monday, September 12 at 7:30 pm at the Millburn Library.  Boys who are in 1st through 4th grade are eligible to participate in Cub Scouts. If you have any questions, please contact Pack Leader Matt Levine at mslevine66@aol.com.  

Boy Scout Troop 15 Anniversary Celebration – Calling all scouts and Troop 15 Alumni

It is with great pride that we are celebrating the 90th anniversary of Boy Scouts Troop 15, a Township asset since 1925! Troop 15 is based out of Christ Church/Winston School and we will be having a family BBQ on Saturday, September 24 on the field between the two buildings. Details are included in the attached flyer.

Hartshorn Arboretum

We are looking forward to an exciting season this year at the Cora Hartshorn Arboretum- from Teddy Bear Parades to Hot Chocolate Hikes, there are programs for all ages to learn something new at the CHA.  Find our calendar at www.hartshornarboretum.org along with registration links.

Reeves Reed Arboretum Concert

Sounds of a Summer Night 2016 series featuring the sultry sounds of the Massive Reggae Band out of Morristown, NJ.RRA welcomes back Massive Reggae Band to once again close out our summer concert series, sending people off in a hip-swaying and finger-snapping, Jamaican-infused whirl.  The concert is scheduled for Wednesday evening, Sept. 14, from 7 to 8 pm.

Picnics and Parties? Save those soda cans…Did you know? The Millburn Fire Department collects aluminum cans all year round to raise money to treat children at The Burn Center at Saint Barnabas, and fund fire safety and burn prevention programs for our students and children around the state? Please bring your empty ALUMINUM beverage cans to either Millburn Township Firehouse, 459 Essex Street, MB or 315 Oak Ridge Road, SH

National Weather Service Issues Heat Advisory thru Sunday for Millburn Township

July 17, 2018

On July 11, 2018 Millburn Police Officer Shanahan stopped a 2014 Honda Accord on Millburn/Vauxhall for speeding. The investigation led to the arrest of 22 year old Lyes Yakoubi of Jersey City on an outstanding traffic warrant out of West Windsor. Mr. Yakoubi was issued a summons and released with a new court date.
