'Grease' is the Word at Paper Mill Playhouse

MILLBURN, NJ - Paper Mill Playhouse is wrapping up its 75th Anniversary Season with Grease, which will play from May 28 through June 29 in an all-new production.

Grease is a rock-n-roll celebration of growing up and falling in love set in the '50s. Grease strikes a universal chord with a mix of fast cars and first loves.On Broadway, Grease won seven Tony Awards, a Drama Desk Award and a Theatre World Award.

“Paper Mill Playhouse is thrilled to breathe new life into America’s most popular musical,” said Mark S. Hoebee, Paper Mill’s producing artistic director. “Our production will feature the iconic songs from the feature film along with your favorite tunes from the stage version. What excites us most about Grease is fulfilling Paper Mill’s mission of nurturing young talent.  Five members of the Grease company will receive their Actors’ Equity card during the run.”

With book, music and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, Grease will be directed by Daniel Goldstein with original choreography by JoAnn M. Hunter.

Sunday evening performances of Grease will be “1950’s dress up nights.”  Show up in your best 1950s outfit and receive a 20 percent discount at the Paper Mill Playhouse Gift Shop.

Grease will be performed at Paper Mill Playhouse eight times a week, Wednesday through Sunday. Performance schedule: Wednesday at 7 p.m., Thursday at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. 

Tickets are on sale now and range from $27 to $98. Tickets may be purchased by calling (973) 376-4343, at the Paper Mill Playhouse Box Office at 22 Brookside Drive in Millburn, or online at www.PaperMill.org.  Groups of 10 or more can receive up to a 40 percent discount on tickets and should call (973) 315-1680. College students can order $20 rush tickets over the phone or in person at the Paper Mill Playhouse Box Office on the day of the performance.

Neiman Marcus personnel report a black male wearing a red hat, black winter coat, and tan backpack concealed 2 pairs of headphones valued at $498.00 in his backpack and left the store without making payment. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
