NEWARK, NJ - The Essex County Prosecutor's Office announced Monday that Kevin Roberts, 37, plead guilty for his role in the December 15 carjacking that left Dustin Friedland, 30, dead. Roberts pleaded guilty to first-degree carjacking on July 24 and is facing a 20-year prison term when he is sentenced. 

Earlier this year the driver of the getaway car, Basim Henry, 36, of South Orange was convicted of murder and felony murder, conspiracy to commit carjacking, carjacking, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. Henry received a life plus ten years sentence in June. 

Two others involved in the crime, Karif Ford, 35, of Newark, and Hanif Thompson, 32, of Irvington, are expected to be tried separately and are expected in court for pretrial conferences in October.
