MILLBURN, NJ - Throughout this school year, six local elementary schools participated in monthly tournaments as part of the C.H.E.S.S. League. Players from the five Millburn elementary schools -- Deerfield, Glenwood, Hartshorn, South Mountain, and Wyoming -- and Summit's Lincoln Hubbard Elementary School went head to head in the league's tournaments with the goal of winning the coveted C.H.E.S.S. League trophy. This year, Hartshorn Elementary School won the trophy as undefeated champions setting a record in C.H.E.S.S. League history. Previous year's winners include Deerfield and Glenwood Elementary Schools.
The C.H.E.S.S. League, which stands for Challenging the Heads of Elementary School Students, is a consortium of schools that play tournaments against each other throughout the school year.
