The Kent Place Middle School will host a tag sale to benefit the Community Soup Kitchen and Outreach Center of Morristown and Birth Haven from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 19.
Among the items being sold are clothing for all ages, kids’ books and toys, household items and more. The event, coordinated by the Middle School Community Service Committee, will involve parents, students and faculty who have donated their items for sale.
Middle School students decided to donate the proceeds of the tag sale to the Community Soup Kitchen and Outreach Center of Morristown and to Birth Haven. Lois Nichols, assistant director of the Community Soup Kitchen, spoke with sixth and seventh graders in an assembly in April. Marta Bugen, a seventh grade student at Kent Place, is on the Community Soup Kitchen’s Youth Council. She has been volunteering for several years and was looking for a way to help raise funds for the organization to support its work.
Birth Haven is a non-sectarian, non-profit organization that provides shelter, support and education for homeless, pregnant women and girls. The choice of charities fits with the school’s service theme for the year, “Homes and Homelessness.”
