SHORT HILLS, NJ - The H&R Block office in Short Hills is now Block Advisors. The re-branding of this and several of its 11,000 U.S. offices was recently launched to provide a greater amount of services to those who have more complex returns and tax advisory needs.
Millburn Township mayor Ted Bourke, with branch manager Jim Brady and his staff, celebrated the grand opening on Thursday with a ribbon cutting ceremony and champagne reception. Also in attendance was Union County Freeholder Sergio Granados.
Several members of the Millburn/Short Hills Chamber of Commerce including Chamber President Mitchell Rait, Executive Director Karol McNulty, board members Fred Smith and Jonathan Sym were on hand to welcome Block Advisors to the Millburn business community.
Jim Brady, a 30-year resident of Millburn, heads the office on Morris Turnpike along with a dozen tax professionals. The office is open full-time during the tax season, between January and April, and two days a week the rest of the year.
“About 100 of our current branches will become Block Advisors.” Said Brady. “These locations were created to provide a greater amount of services to address the specific needs of a segment of the market.”
H&R Block is the world’s largest tax service provider. In 2014, they had revenues of over $3 billion and prepared 24.2 million tax returns worldwide.
