WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Medicare Annual Enrollment Period is an annual period of time when current Medicare users can choose to re-evaluate their coverage. Getting Medicare or changing Medicare plans is a major milestone.
Medicare is our country's health insurance program for people age 65 or older. Certain people younger than age 65 can qualify for Medicare, too, including those with disabilities and those who have permanent kidney failure.
The program helps with the cost of health care, but it does not cover all medical expenses or the cost of most long-term care. You have choices for how you get Medicare coverage. If you choose to have Original Medicare (Part A and Part B) coverage, you can either buy a Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) or a Medicare Advantage insurance policy from a private insurance company.
The Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) begins on October 15th and continues until December 7th. During this time, you can make changes to certain aspects of your Medicare health coverage:
- Change from one Medicare Advantage Plan to another Medicare Advantage Plan.
- Change from a Medicare Advantage Plan to Original Medicare.
- Change from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan.
- Enroll in a Prescription Drug Plan or change your Prescription Drug Plan.
- If you’re new to Medicare, you might have a different election period; reach out to us to review your options.
"Understanding and selecting the right plan is time-sensitive, and perhaps confusing." said George Sosa, President of The Sosa Insurance Group. “There are several options for those who are eligible and choosing the right plan depends on your personal circumstance. For example, if you are retiring and getting Medicare, disabled, have Medicaid and Medicare or recently moved to New Jersey.”
The Sosa Insurance Group is dedicated to assisting our Medicare eligible consumers throughout their Medicare journey.
We specialize in Medicare Supplement, also known as Medigap, Medicare Advantage, Medicare and Medicaid, Stand-Alone Part D Prescription, Dental, as well as Final Expense, Individual and Long-Term Care Plans.
Because the Annual Enrollment Period is occurring during a pandemic, we have made accommodations to provide prospective clients with phone, virtual and face-to-face appointments to assist in navigating all your Medicare options.
If you, parents or a loved one is new to Medicare, considering a change or just simply want to review their plan options, please call 973-902-5445 to speak with one of our expert agents.
