MILLBURN, NJ - The gazebo in Taylor park has a new facelift, courtesy of a Millburn Boy Scout.
Gabriel Liwschitz, of Troop 17, who was previously chronicled in an earlier article, has complete his project to restore the gazebo and bus stop in Taylor Park.
When asked back in April about why he chose the project, Liwschitz said it was about giving back to the community that has given so much to him.
"It means a great deal to me," he said. "Someone donated [the gazebo] a while ago. It took a lot of their money and time to donate something. And to donate it back to the community, it takes a great deal of effort to do that, and I feel that redoing [the gazebo] pays back to the community in a way."
Working with other volunteers, Liwschitz worked to fix up the gazebo, as well as the nearby bus shelter just outside the park. Repairs to both structures included painting and other necessary cosmetic upkeep.
As Liwschitz had previously estimated, his work was completed in time for Memorial Day festivities. Residents are encouraged to check out the repaired structures throughout the spring and summer.
