MIILBURN, NJ - The Millburn High School Boys Swim Team, led by Coach Mike Foglyano, continued its stellar season after earning a second-place finish (190.5 points) in the Super Essex Conference (SEC) Championships held at the Raritan Bay YMCA in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on January 16.  Seton Hall Prep took the overall team crown with 389 points, with Montclair High School placing third with 173 points.  It was the sixth consecutive year that Millburn has finished second overall in the tournament.

Millburn started off fast with a strong second-place finish and a Meet of Champions time in the meet’s first event, the 200 IM Relay, by the quartet of Justin Mon, Eric Wang, Evan Ng and Anshul Kamath (1:41.92), which was just eked out by Seton Hall Prep.

Eric Wang followed up that effort with a first-place finish and personal best time of 59.62 in the 100 Breast, after a narrow second-place finish in last year’s SEC.  Evan Ng recorded two third-place finishes (100 Fly and 500 Free), duplicating his accomplishment from a year ago.

400 Free Relay – Anshul Kamath, Kyle Silbert, Zach ElShaer, Evan Ng (third, 3:26.57)

On January 24, Millburn cruised to a 129-41 win over conference rival Caldwell.  Evan Ng posted individual first-place finishes in the 200 IM (2:09.77) and 500 Free (4:59.50) and swam the third leg of a 200 IM Relay win (1:46.77) with teammates Justin Mon, Eric Wang and Anshul Kamath.   On January 26, the Millburn boys team celebrated its graduating senior class in netting its ninth victory of the season in a solid 103-66 triumph over West Orange.  The Millers swept the team relays on its way to topping 100 points for the seventh time in nine regular season matchups this year.

With these two resounding wins against SEC rivals, Millburn has compiled yet another remarkable season, now standing at an undefeated 9-0 and winners of 34 of its last 38 head-to-head regular season matchups over the past four seasons.  The Millers, currently ranked 20th in the State, face upcoming tests against Columbia (January 31), Morristown (February 2) and Seton Hall Prep (February 6) as it looks to make noise heading into the NJSIAA State Tournament.
