MILLBURN, NJ - Earlier this month, the Millburn Fire Department announced the hiring of one probationary firefighter, which was approved at the township committee meeting held on Oct. 6. Firefighter Nicholas William DeCollibus was hired by the department.

DeCollibus was born in Freehold, New Jersey and raised in Marlboro, New Jersey. He attended the Marlboro High School and graduated in 2013. He currently lives in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

In 2014, DeCollibus enlisted in to the United States Air Force and attained the rank of Senior Airman Nicolas then spent 36 months at Spangdhalem AFB Germany, and in January 2018 until his separation from the USAF served at Davis Monthan AFB in Tucson, Arizona. He served honorably for 4 ½ years.

He also served the last eight months as a civilian Firefighter working for the Department of Defense at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. Nicolas continues his passion for the outdoors he enjoys his dogs, fishing, and computer games.

DeCollibus is married to his wife Taylor, parents Marialba and William, and has 2 brothers Joseph and Christian. Probationary Firefighter DeCollibus will be assigned to the Training Division for the next three months.
