MILLBURN, NJ — It was a lot closer of a result than the Millburn Field Hockey team was used to, but the varsity squad still picked up the win after a gutsy second-half performance.

In the first half, each team scored. Montclair potted its lone goal off a stroke in the first half, with Millburn responding shortly thereafter on a corner to tie the game up. That goal was a Reagan affair, as Katie found her sister Olivia for the score.

In the second half, with time running down, Millburn struck for what would become the game-winning goal. The Regan connection set the ball to Dani Samuelson who sent it to the post where Miriam Wolk tapped it in for the win.

Speaking by email after the game, head coach Sarah Pallino talked about her team's strengths.

It was a very exciting game," Pallino said. "We were pretty evenly matched, however we had more corner opportunities. Our defense kept us in that game, but our corner work offensively finally finished it.

"The girls played a spectacular game. We passed well and made good choices today which helped with the end result. This was a great confidence booster going into the next round of the counties."

Up next, Millburn heads to Scotch Plains/Fanwood for a match. first faceoff scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
