MILLBURN, NJ - Members of the Millburn Fire Department, Millburn Police Department and Millburn/Short Hills First Aid Squad worked yesterday afternoon to battle a house fire on 24 Norwood Terrace, and treat the victims of the blaze.

A call to the Millburn Fire Department confirmed the case was now being handled by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office after the death of one individual. Officials performed CPR on the victim, who had been inside the house before being removed by officials.

Being unsuccessful in their efforts, the victim was pronounced Dead on Arrival (DOA) at St Barnabas Medical Center.

The strength of fire necessitated additional help and as a result, Engine 32 from Maplewood was called in to help. The blaze was eventually brought under control and extinguished. A cause of the fire has not yet been determined. A report from News 12 this morning said that firefighters who entered the premises found a hoarding situation, which made the fire harder to fight.
