MILLBURN, NJ - When is a road win not a road win?
For the Millburn Millers Girls Soccer team, it happened when Science Park, their opponent for the game could not find a field to play their home game on. The venue was switched to Millburn High School and the game went on as scheduled.
With the venue changed, Millburn jumped out to an early lead it would never relinquish. Carly Bernstein scored early in the first half, and was joined on the score sheet by Maggie Speckhart.
Speckhart would score again in the second half, and Jenna Kaminski's goal would ice the game with time winding down in what would become a 4-0 win.
Speaking after the game, Bernstein, a junior forward said that the team responded well to the improptu change of venue, and looked strong in Monday's contest. Additionally, she said it was key for the Millers to get a strong push heading into the state playoffs.
"We just have to get out of our heads and not think about those Livingston games and those West Orange games that we lost," Bernstein said. "We just have to come out with a strong mindset and think that we're gonna win this game, we're going to play 110 percent through the whole entire game and get that win."
Girls Soccer is back in action Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. against Montclair High School.
