MILLBURN, NJ - The Millburn High School Chess team featuring juniors Bilgen Sazci, Andy Chen and Alan Gu took first place out of 13 teams at the 11th grade level of the U.S. Chess National K-12 Championships in Nashville, Tennessee. 

Juniors Bilgen Sazci, Andy Chen and Alan Gu lead the Millers to victory opening up a six and a half point lead over their nearest competitor. With a combined score of 66.0, calculated using the top three scorers from each team, the Millburn team capitalized on the team's first ever trip to Nationals. 

Gu lead the team with a score of 5.5 with Chen and Sazci close behind with 5.0 and 4.5 respectively. In the individual awards Gu placed 4th overall and Chen took 6th.
