MILLBURN, NJ - The 2017 Millburn High School Freshmen Boys Lacrosse Team "Make an Impact" fundraising Initiative kicked off and is officially open for donations during the 2017 Lacrosse Season. The team goal is to raise $5,000 throughout our season for Project Impact and the National Brain Tumor Society (NBTS) so that they can continue their battle against Pediatric Brain Tumors. The team is also running the 2017 Morristown St. Patrick's Day 5K Race in Morris Township on Saturday, March 11 and will wear the signature Grey Ribbon for Brain Tumor Awareness on their lacrosse helmets this season. Also, the team will be wearing and selling Grey Brain Tumor Awareness Bracelets throughout the season.
More than 4,600 American children hear the words “brain tumor” uttered by their doctors every year. For those patients and their families, the impact of this diagnosis is overwhelming and life-changing forever. Pediatric brain tumors are the leading cause of cancer deaths in all youth aged 19 and under. For high-grade pediatric gliomas, the diagnosis is particularly grim. For one type called DIPG, most patients survive nine months, or about as long as the typical school year. And overall, only around 25% of all those with high-grade gliomas survive more than five years, rates that trend on par with where they were 40 years ago. There currently is no standard of care for these kids. This is completely unacceptable.
To support the Millburn High School Freshmen Boys Lacrosse Team donate to their "Make an Impact" Fundraising Campaign to help fight against Pediatric Brain Tumors. Together we can make a difference, Together we can "Make an Impact".
