Millburn High School Winter Orchestra and Chorus Concert – Thursday, December 17


The Millburn High School Orchestra and Choruses will present their Winter Concert on  Thursday, December 17, at 7:30 PM, in the High School auditorium.

The Ninth Grade Chorus, Cantica Nova, will perform a traditional Korean folksong, a setting of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “Address to the Moon” and Mendelssohn’s “Verleih’ uns Frieden.” 

The Millburn Chorale will perform Antonio Estevez’s “Mata del Anima Sola” Stephen Chatman’s “The Cloud” and the traditional Shaker tune “Gift To Be Simple” arranged by Bob Chilcott. They will also be performing “Hard Times Come Again No More” by Stephen Foster and “Uptown Girl” by Billy Joel, and Ron Nelson’s “Three Mountain Ballads.”

The Chamber String Orchestra will perform “Sonata No. 1 in F major” by Arcangelo Corelli,

Henry Purcell’s “Chacony” and “Mother Ginger” from “The Nutcracker Suite.”

The Symphony Orchestra will present the Overture to “Die Fledermaus” by Johann Strauss,Jr., Frescobaldi’s “Toccata” and a medley from “The Empire Strikes Back” of John Williams. 

The Miller Chorus will perform Frank Ticheli’s “There Will Be Rest,” Ernest Bloch’s “Silent Devotion and Response,” Randall Thompson’s “The Road Not Taken,” “Evening” by Sergei Taneyev and “Ngana” by Stephen Leek. 

The Chorus and Orchestra will combine forces to present a winter favorite Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride.” 

Dr. Brian Schkeeper conducts the Choruses and the Orchestras are under the direction of Mrs. Karen Conrad.  The concert is free and open to the public.

The music department encourages all to, “Please join us and share in the musical accomplishments of these outstanding students.  It will be a delightful evening for all.”
