Millburn Police Chase Suspected Thief on Foot; Three Arrested

On May 5, 2016 Millburn Police Officer Derosa responded to the intersection of Main/Ridgewood on a report of an assault. The victim reports being stopped at the light when a white male in his 50’s with a dark colored pony tail approached him and began to punch him in the shoulder through the open window. The victim states the suspect had attempted to merge into traffic back on Main St in Springfield just prior to the assault. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On May 5, 2016 Millburn Police Officer Derosa conducted a motor vehicle stop in front of the Papermill Playhouse on a 1999 Honda Civic with no front license plate. The investigation led to the arrest of 20 year old Vincent Ramos out of Union for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Ramos was also given summonses for having no front plate, failure to produce a registration, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle before being released. 

On May 6, 2016 Millburn Police Officer Derosa responded to Rainbow Nails at 778 Rt 124 on a theft report. The victim reports between 10:00-11:30 am she had left her $2200.00 ring on a counter while getting her nails done. The victim states she returned to the salon and could not locate her ring. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On May 8, 2016 Millburn Police Officer Shanahan responded to Saks Fifth Ave on a fraud report. Saks Fifth Ave personnel report Ishmaheel Lawani, age 27 out of Staten Island, had fraudulently purchased $11,870.00 worth of merchandise. Mr. Lawani was stopped on foot, however he then fled and met up with David Ayesuyi, age 31 out of Staten Island, and Omohogho Ede, age 30 out of Illinois. Mr. Lawani was placed under arrest for credit card fraud and resisting arrest. Mr. Ayesuyi was placed under arrest for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana) and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Ede was placed under arrest for an outstanding warrant out of Pennsylvania and for possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Lawani and Ayesuyi were released with a court date. Mr. Ede was transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility.

On May 9, 2016 Millburn Police Officer Pinero responded to Bloomingdales on a theft report. Bloomingdales personnel report a black male with a beard wearing a red jacket, orange shirt, black jeans and a black female wearing a black hat, black jacket, red shirt, black jeans, and gray sneakers concealed 4 articles of clothing in shopping bags valued at $754.97 and left the store without making payment. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On May 10, 2016 Millburn Police Officer Lipke responded to a Silver Spring Road residence on a burglary to auto report. The resident reports sometime overnight an unknown actor/s entered her 2015 Infiniti Q50 parked in the driveway and opened all the compartments. Nothing appears to be missing. The incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
