SHORT HILLS, NJ - The Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Commerce hosted their second annual 'Taste of Soiree' at the Hilton Short Hills Monday evening. Members, residents and business owners gathered under the glistening lights of newly renovated Grand Ballroom to taste a sampling of signature dishes, network and come together as a community to enjoy the offerings from around Millburn all under one roof. 

Mayor Cheryl Burstein, Deputy Mayor Jodi Rosenberg and Millburn Township Business Administrator Alexander McDonald all came out to support the Millburn business community and mingle with the over 100 guests. Mayor Burstein said, "I came out tonight to support the town and the business in the town. That's why events like this are important, to showcase the businesses." 

There was something to delight even the most discerning palette from Charlie Brown's prime rib sliders to Common Lot's poached shrimp with bib lettuce and peanut sauce to newcomer  Pita on Essex's hummus with homemade pita and eggplant salad. "They [the Chamber] asked if I wanted to be a part of this event and we are happy to participate. It's a great way to expose our restaurant to more people." Pita on Essex's owner said. "The Millburn community has been very welcoming," since they opened up on Essex Street six months ago. The tasting option spread endlessly in front of guests who also enjoyed the Cranberry Frost Martini created by the Hilton Short Hills specifically for the Chamber event.

"Events like this are important because it showcases the great restaurants and business we have in Millburn." Millburn Township Business Administrator McDonald said. "The businesses are extremely important for the vitality of the township." Deputy Mayor Rosenberg concurred with the sentiment saying, "I came tonight to taste the splendors of Millburn's finest restaurants. It's especially important during our downtown construction that we all support each other."

In between savory bites, guests could browse hundreds of silent auction items from jewelry to dry cleaning packages and place their bids. The funds raised are used by the Chamber to host networking opportunities throughout the year including breakfasts, lunch and learns, and other special events.

Resturants participating included: Tinga Taqueria, Basilico Fine Dining, La Pergola Ristorante, Above Restaurant & Bar Common Lot, Benihana, La Strada Pizzeria, La Cucina di Clemenza Ristorante, Joe's American Bar & Grill, Millburn Deli and Philly Pretzel Factory.  The Hills restaurant joined as a first-time participant. 

To indulge a sweet tooth Undercover Chocolate, Splurge Bakery, Chocolate Works and Squirrel & the Bee provided desserts of every variety.  

The Millburn-Short Hills Chamber of Commerce hosts this annual event and other events throughout the year to fulfill its mission to support, preserve and develop business in Millburn Township. Additional information can be found on the website http://millburnshorthillschamber.org/
