MILLBURN, NJ —Millburn High School graduates Evan Bitan and Chelsea Schwartz have been named the 2018 recipients of The Millburn/Short Hills Scholastic Boosters’ “Give a Boost” Awards, presented by Investors Bank. The awards of $1,000 each were presented by Boosters President Jennifer Baer at the Millburn branch of Investors Bank
Founded in 1947, the Boosters created the “Give a Boost” Award in 2009, increasing its support activities for local students. The organization, which has had a 36-year relationship with Investors Bank, was the recipient of a grant from the Investors Foundation (www.investorsbankfoundation.org), which has enabled the Boosters to expand the “Give-A-Boost” award program.
“As one longtime Millburn institution partnering with another one, Investors Bank is very pleased to continue our support of the invaluable assistance The Boosters have provided to deserving township students for more than seven decades,” said Investors Bank Assistant Vice President and Millburn branch manager Kim Kaminski.
“We are most appreciative of the grants from both the Investors Foundation and the Millburn branch, which extend our resources for assisting township students,” said Ms. Baer, noting that the organization has made more than $1,000,000 in grants to more than 1,000 students.
Bitan will be a freshman at Tulane University in New Orleans, while Schwartz is a senior at Indiana University.
In addition to the “Give-A-Boost” awards, the Boosters annually provides educational grants to township students, helping them close the shortfall in their college funding packages. Individual Booster grants, which are based on demonstrated financial need, have ranged, in recent years, from $750 to $2,000 for the school year.
