On January 17, 2012, Governor Christie signed legislation into law (P.L. 2011, c. 202) that allows school districts to opt to move the annual election of school board members to November and eliminates the vote on school budgets for such districts, except for public questions to spend more than the state-mandated 2% cap.

The Millburn Board of Education discussed this new law at the January 23rd  BOE meeting and tabled a resolution in order to give community members an opportunity to weigh in on the options.  Members of the public are invited and encouraged to attend the February 13 Board of Education meeting which will begin with a Public Comment session dedicated to discussion of this new law.  Learn more about the law in a Q & A provided by the NJ Department of Education.
