MIILBURN, NJ - Once again, I want to thank the voters for supporting Tuesday’s referendum. We are now moving ahead with securing funding and scheduling of the construction projects ahead. Much more to come on all of those plans.
For now, here are a few updates and reminders:
- Standardized Testing: The state has asked all districts to inform families about the 2016-2017 PARCC standardized testing dates and to provide information about PARCC tests. All information about testing in Millburn can be found on our standardized testing site which will be updated by our office of Curriculum and Instruction throughout the year.
- Week of Respect: Next week is the annual statewide Week of Respect, during which schools recognize the importance of character education by providing age-appropriate activities focusing on preventing harassment, intimidation and bullying (HIB). All of our schools will have special programs underway to promote understanding of respect, tolerance, bullying vs. bystanding, diversity and kindness. Make a point of having conversations at home also…together we build character.
- Consortium Parent Wellness Series: Parenting your Teen in this Social Media Age, Thursday, October 6, at 7:00 pm at Summit High School. This is the first of this year’s series of parent education programs sponsored by the Superintendents and Student Assistance Counselors of Summit, Chatham, Millburn, Berkeley Heights, and New Providence.
Schools and offices are closed on Monday and Tuesday. Happy New Year to all who are celebrating Rosh Hashanah.
