MILLBURN, NJ – Niche.com released the 2019 list of the top elementary schools in New Jersey. Five Millburn Township elementary schools ranked in the top 20; Deerfield (4), Glenwood (5), Hartshorn (6), and Wyoming (8) and South Mountain (19). The Washington School, the newest elementary school in Millburn, was not ranked due to the lack of data.
Top honors went to the Princeton Charter School, followed by the Littlebrook Elementary School, also in Princeton Township.
Niche.com calculates their rankings based on academic grades and an overall school district experience to include facilities, sports and safety, teacher surveys and student diversity. For their elementary school rankings, Niche.com rated 1,419 charter and open enrollment schools in New Jersey.
All Millburn Township elementary schools received an overall “A+” Niche grade, which reflects the academic grade as well as the district overall experience criteria they used.
Last month Niche.com produced its list of the top New Jersey school districts. Millburn Township Schools received the No. 1 ranking out of 383 districts rated. School districts near Millburn receiving top honors include; Summit (4), Livingston (5), Chatham (6). The single largest criteria in all the rankings, with a weight of 50% of the total, are academic grades.
Ratings are not all based on objective data. Many ratings agencies factor in parent surveys, extra curricular activities and “student culture” into the mix. For instance, a school with equal academic grades and graduation rates to another may be ranked lower if the other school offers more sports programs and has better parent and student opinions.
Regardless of the variances in rating or admissions criteria, Millburn schools have consistently been regarded as having one of the finest educational programs in the state and country. To sustain such a high level of success and accomplishment is a testament to the district’s leadership, teachers, parents and students.
