WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Millburn ice hockey team advanced in the first round of the Kelly Cup Saturday night with a 7-2 victory over West Essex at Codey Arena.
Jack Williams scored two goals and had two assists, and Spencer Brown also scored two goals for Millburn (13-3-6), which scored three unanswered goals in the second period to take a 5-2 lead.
Charles Palmer had one goal and two assists, and Matt Riskin and Ryan Potechin each scored a goal for the Millers. Sam Charlat contributed two assists to the victory.
Sammy Friedman had a goal and an assist for West Essex, which took a 2-1 lead on his goal with 4:55 left in the first period. Patrick Coyle scored the other goal for the Knights.
