SECAUCUS, NJ - Evy Ruibal, a 2014 graduate of Millburn High School, was selected this week in the 2017 Major League Baseball draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
A right-handed pitcher, Ruibal, who just completed his junior year at the University of Notre Dame, was picked by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 16th round.
As a senior at Millburn, Ruibal compiled an 8-2 record with a 1.27 earned-run average with 55 strikeouts and 15 walks in 55 innings for the Millers. He was 5-1 with a 1.51 ERA as a junior at Millburn. Ruibal had recovered from a stress fracture in his back that he suffered in ninth grade to enjoy a successful baseball career at Millburn High School.
At Notre Dame, Ruibal pitched exclusively in relief this past season after making one start apiece in his freshman and sophomore seasons with the Fighting Irish. He is projected as a relief pitcher in professional baseball.
