MILLBURN, NJ - Despite a brief thunderstorm at Taylor Park, Millburn Township's National Night Out event turned out to be a success. The event was filled with live DJ music, musical performances from the Parkers, food tents, and even a dunk tank. The event was sponsored by the Millburn Police Department.

The National Night Out program is meant to help improve the relationship between citizens and local police departments across the country. In addition to displays from Millburn Police officers, displays were also brought from the Essex County Sheriff's Office as well as the NJ Transit Police. There were also inflatable attractions such as an obstacle course and a bounce house. Additionally, there were displays for the Boy Scouts' Troop 17 (St. Rose of Lima Church), the Millburn OEM (Office of Emergency Management), and a mini arcade booth run by the Millburn High School football team.

As mentioned at the beginning, unfriendly skies combined with a brief thunderstorm seemed to spell the end to the Night Out, but fortunately, the weather quickly turned around for a great end to the event. Hopefully, next year's Night Out will be nothing but sunshine!
