
FAIRFIELD, NJ -- A single engine plane crashed as it attepted to land at Essex County Airport on June 5. No one was injured.
The incident happened at 12:15 p.m. Fairfield Police Department received a call from the operations tower at the airport at reporting the crash, and police, fire and EMS units responded immediately,
The plane was found off the pavement of Runway #10. The pilot and a passanger were inside the craft, but were apparently uninjured and refused any medical treatment.
While the cause the crash is being investigated, it is believed that the plane may have clipped a tree on its approach. After the crash, the pilot, Tai Kiernan, 46, of New York, reported having experienced some engine problems upon his approach.
The plane is a 1985 Beech F33A fixed wing, single engine plane. More details, if they become available, will be updated as available.
