MILLBURN, NJ – Due to the grand opening Saturday night of Red Carpet Boutique, on the corner of Millburn Avenue and Main Street, the block between Main Street and Taylor Park will be closed from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.
Some businesses in the area had expressed concern over not being notified of the closure sooner, and some said they had only found out on Wednesday. On Thursday, Red Carpet Boutique owner Gina Colabelli told The Alternative Press she had visited businesses in the affected area and told them about the closure.
While most of the businesses will be closed after about 5:30 p.m. that day, the restaurants will still be open, but Colabelli said she had spoken with them. There will be an afterparty at Moonshine, which is in the same block as Red Carpet Boutique, and Martini’s, which is on the other side of Millburn Avenue, also on Main Street. Mayor Sandra Haimoff said it’s not the first time a local business has closed off part of a street for an event, and that police traffic bureau considers the time of day and impact on traffic before approving such requests.
Paper Mill Playhouse’s production of “A Chorus Line” is sold out on Saturday night, according to Director of Public Relations Shayne Miller, but Paper Mill officials had enough notice of the road closure to send an email to as many ticket holders for Saturday’s performance as possible to alert them of the detour.
Millburn Police will be on hand to help redirect traffic in the area.
