SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - Ricalton's Village Tavern is one of those places where you feel instantly at home the moment you walk in the door. Even though Ricalton's will be celebrating just their second anniversary this June, to many, this neighborhood place in the heart of South Orange Village feels like it has been around forever.
Owner Tom McLaughlin discussed that Ricalton's has made lots of changes since first opening its doors. "We've added lots of entertainment," McLaughlin said. "We have the Tuesday Night Jazz Series, open-mic nights, as well as other events like Trivia Night which will be Wednesday nights from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., beginning on April 27."
The menu at Ricalton's has also evolved, with a new chef and a new spring menu has just been released which keeps favorites like the Short Rib Presentation and the Bacon Chicken Jalapeno Dumplings, and adds innovative new dishes like their famous Lobster Roll for lunch and Filet Mignon for dinner.

Visitors to Ricalton's can choose between the large upstairs dining room and bar, outdoor tables on the patio, or The Sung (see the menuhere), which as the name suggests, is  a cozy bar and seating area downstairs, as well as being the only place you can throw darts in South Orange.

The Snug has a good number of craft beers, and Happy Hour is every night from 4 to 7 p.m. with selected beers for $3, and wine or margaritas for just $5.

The main dining room is open for lunchdinner, and Sunday brunch. For families dining at Ricalton's, there is plenty for children to choose from on the Kids Menu, and on Wednesday's kids eat for free.

For special events, Ricalton's has two private rooms, including a large space with it's own full bar. McLaughlin explained, "We can really tailor the space and the menu to whatever the party host would like. We've done everything from formal baby showers to casual weddings, as well as business meetings and school events."

On Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8, Ricalton's will host a special all you can eat buffet Mother's Day Brunch, which includes a complimentary mimosa or bellini. Seatings are at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m., and reservations can be made by calling 973-763-1006.

Ricalton's is also a great choice for a quick bite or a drink before or after a performance at the South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC), which is just across the street.
