Lisa Mandelblatt, a Democratic candidate for Congress in the 7th District, today called on U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance to come clean on whether he supports a Republican tax plan that would harm New Jersey taxpayers.
The American Action Network, a shadowy dark money group, has launched television ads encouraging voters to call Lance and tell him to “keep fighting for tax reforms.”
The ad is really part of a $2.5 million campaign designed to build support for President Trump’s tax scheme.
“The claims in this ad is misleading,” Mandelblatt said. “While American Action Network falsely states these are tax cuts for working families; the truth is that in New Jersey, working families would be devastated if the GOP tax plans become law.”
The GOP proposal could eliminate deductions for state and local income taxes as well as property taxes. "Losing these deductions hurts New Jersey families where we already pay the highest property taxes in the nation. We cannot afford it,” stated Mandelblatt.
“While this shadowy, dark-money group pours millions of dollars into supporting a tax scheme that would hurt his constituents, Lance remains silent,” Mandelblatt said. “He can’t have it both ways. Either he’s with American Action Network their dubious scheme to hurt New Jersey taxpayers, or he needs to denounce the group.”
Since announcing her candidacy in May, Lisa Mandelblatt's campaign has focused on investing in quality jobs for New Jerseyans, addressing vital infrastructure needs, ensuring New Jersey maintains a top-notch education system for all students, and fighting for affordable healthcare.
