WASHINGTON, D.C. - Isabella Becchi, a rising freshman at Morristown-Beard and Short Hills resident met Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) at his office in Washington, D.C. as part of a delegation from Running Start. The Running Start's conference is part of their mission to "support the young women who will shape tomorrow’s world." The conference also includes meetings with lawmakers and discussions on current events.
According to their website, Running Start was founded in early 2007, Running Start grew out of the non-partisan Women Under Forty Political Action Committee (WUFPAC), which financially supports young women running for federal office. Running Start was formed when it became clear that the pool of young women considering careers in politics and running for elected office was far too small.
