Does your household love Food Network’s “Cupcake Wars”? Do you imagine yourself in “Cake Boss”? Now’s your chance to make your baking mark in Sussex County!

The Friends of the Sussex-Wantage Library invite amateur bakers ages 10-and-up to participate in the second annual Cupcake Contest taking place in the Sussex-Wantage Library Community Room on Saturday, September 9th.  Doors open at 1 pm and judging begins at 1:45 pm.  The contest is limited to 30 participants, so register now at www.sussexcountylibrary.org, or call the library at 973-875-3940 and request to be registered.

Themed to “books and literature”, this year’s contestants must create a display of cupcakes relating either to a specific novel or series or to the broader topic of books in general.

Participants will be judged in two age categories:  ages 10-13; and ages 14-and-up.  Each participant must create a display of one dozen (12) artfully arranged cupcakes.  All 12 cupcakes must be created from the same cake batter recipe, but may be decorated differently.  Judging will be based on taste, presentation, creativity, and adherence to theme.

First, second and third place ribbons will be awarded.  Rules can be found at the Sussex-Wantage Library and on the Friends’ website:  friendsofswlibrary.org.
