Store Spotlight

Breakfast at Tiffany’s, anyone? What if we said we could do you one better? A shopping experience in downtown Millburn inspired by the classic femininity of Audrey herself, but designed for the dynamic lives of modern women.

Lori Csik opened Dressed by Lori after a 30-year career in the fashion and retail industry, beginning with a Fashion Merchandising and Marketing degree from Bauder Fashion College in Miami. From management positions and human resources roles, to wholesale and personal shopping, Lori has seen it all. Given her range of knowledge and in-depth foundation, she needed to open her own specialized boutique. Not to mention, she accomplished all of this while simultaneously raising three boys!

Over the years, Lori has developed a strong sense of what women are looking to achieve with fashion, and how she can help them bring out the best version of themselves – which is in large part what differentiates her from the rest. Lori has an eye for styles and fits that promise to compliment varying body types and an insatiable craving for designers creating distinct, American-made product, both of which truly set her shoppe apart. Most importantly, Lori believes a dress “can take a woman from day to play,” giving her clients the flexibility they need to lead a busy life, but look and feel amazing while doing so.

When she decided she was ready to open Dressed by Lori back in 2011, it took almost a year for her to find the perfect location.

“When one town after another didn’t work out for various reasons, I finally asked my angels to lead me where I should be, and I was led to downtown Millburn, where I shopped many years ago,” Lori said. “A lovely store on Millburn Avenue was moving to another location in town and the rest is history! I’ve been at 304 Millburn Avenue for almost two years!”

With the real estate locked and differentiated story in place, Lori found herself equipped to open a boutique that delivered a specialized experience for her clientele.

My desire for this shoppe is that it ties together all the things that are meaningful to me. Dressed by Lori will focus on classic and feminine dresses and accessories that proudly bear the Made in America name.

Dressed by Lori designers include Amy Matto, Byron Lars Beauty Mark, Karina, Mara Hoffman, Nanette Lepore, Shoshanna and Tracy Reese. You can find unique jewelry from Evocateur, vintage jewelry from Artwerx, Adornments, Krysia Renau and Zullo Designs, scarves by Love Quotes and organic body products by Dolly Moo.

For Lori, selecting her designers is a process she enjoys. It is important to her that the store is inclusive, carrying product for all women, regardless of price point, size or style. During a training experience with Stacey London and her many years in personal shopping, Lori discovered her passion for helping clients find the pieces that enhance their personal tastes and make them feel incredible.

“Dresses are timeless, and every woman should have several that she loves, so I’m constantly trying to build a selection of product that appeals to my range of clientele,” Lori said.

And as Lori looks towards the future, she acknowledges that this is a true opportunity for growth.

“I continue to grow by adding new designers and merchandise, and by planning very focused events that include the community, whether for charity or by networking and including local businesses,” Lori explained.

The future for this specialized boutique is bright, and not only because Lori’s offering is so clearly distinct from the rest, but because she does everything through a client-inspired lens.

“I believe that women should support other women to be successful, which is why I’ve become an advocate for Dress for Success,” Lori said.

Amongst her initiatives to expand the collection, continue the support of women and her community, she has also added an online store, and is looking to open another location at the Jersey Shore soon.

Dressed by Lori is located at 304 Millburn Avenue in Millburn, New Jersey. The store is open Mondays through Saturday at 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Thursdays until 7:00 p.m. As part of the experience, evening and Sunday personal shopping appointments are also available. To schedule those, and for other general inquiries, please call (973) 218-6206, and don’t forget to check out the shoppe online at www.dressedbylori.com
