MILLBURN, NJ - I hope you have been enjoying the sounds of the season in our schools this month. There have been many sightings of singing polar bears and dancing snowflakes in our elementary schools, with more to come at Wyoming School next Tuesday. All are welcome to come out for some festive music tonight as the Middle School holds its annual Winter Chorus Concert at 7 p.m., and “wrapping it all up” on Wednesday the 21st will be the High School Orchestra and Chorus in the auditorium at 7:30.
Don’t forget that the Caring Kids 6th annual holiday gift drive wrapping party is on Saturday, December 17th, from 12-2pm, at Hartshorn School. For more information, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you to all who have donated and/or sponsored a child in this partnership with the New Jersey Regional Day School in Newark, as well as to the many gift drives going on in our schools and community.
You can help support the Millburn Police department’s annual Toys for Tots campaign by bringing your family to the Annual Toys for Tots Basketball Game on Friday at 7 pm in the Millburn High School main gym. Fans bringing a new, unwrapped toy to the game receive free admission to the season opener of the Millburn Millers Boys Varsity Basketball team against West Essex High School. Support the team and a great cause and enjoy a fun family night out with hoops – a DJ – and pizza!
Looking ahead… mark your calendar for January 24, 2017 and make sure to order your tickets now for the Education Foundation’s special presentation with R.J. Palacio, renowned author of Wonder. This novel, required reading for all Millburn Middle School 6th grade students, has “struck a chord with audiences of all ages with its unique message of ‘choosing kindness.’" This promises to be a very inspiring evening.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Dr. Christine Burton
Superintendent of Schools
