Chromebook Presentation

Assistant Superintendent, Kyle Arlington presented a thorough and informative explanation of our plans for the rollout of the school district’s Anytime Anywhere Chromebook digital conversion at Monday’s BOE meeting. He made the case for the necessity of providing 1:1 computing for our students, as well as addressing some concerns that have been raised by staff and parents.
Mr. Arlington’s presentation emphasizes that integrating technology into our curriculum keeps us on par with comparable districts and private schools. It is also one more prong in our efforts to provide our students with the survival skills of the 21st-century. Food for thought … as Mr. Arlington noted: “Our current Kindergarteners, and students entering school in the next few years, will live into the 22nd Century.  It is our responsibility to provide them with a school-experience that is preparatory, rigorous & cutting edge.”

Referendum Updates

Washington School construction is underway. We have been chronicling the progress of the demolition and renovation work in photos on our Referendum website. We are working to get the furnishings in place for all the classrooms and common areas, and Principal Mercurio is working with the Washington School PTO to plan opening activities. You can see timelines, scheduling, and more, including the staff list on the Washington School tab of the same website.
Incoming 5th Grade parents: Please mark your calendars now for Washington School Parent Orientations on Tuesday, May 9th: Millburn Library at 10:00 am and HS Auditorium 7:30 pm.

The website also has timelines for all of the referendum projects. Most of those begin in the summer, so we will have more updates for you on summer projects as those get started.
Health & Wellness

Please remember to submit responses to the Parent Support Survey. It closes today. We will compile results and share them with you in the coming weeks.
