As we make our way through May, the calendar is full, and many of the annual signs of the season are popping up:
We had our first bear sightings this week, a not uncommon occurrence in our area as bears come out of hibernation and search for food. As a rule, the mere presence of a black bear is not considered a problem because in general bears tend to be wary of people. Please take a look at our Bear Safety tips for reminders on how to avoid attracting them, and what to do if you do see one.
Spring Concert season is underway. All are invited to the Middle School Chorus Concert on Tuesday night at 7 p.m., featuring operetta and show tunes, along with popular and traditional songs from around the world. And on Wednesday, the High School bands will celebrate the composers and music of America. Don’t miss this patriotic tribute at 7:30 in the MHS auditorium.

I want to thank the Millburn Schools Green Team, in collaboration with Town Forester Tom Doty, whose crew recently planted new trees at the Middle School as part of Millburn's annual Tree City USA Foundation planting event. The Middle School now has 7 gorgeous new trees (4 Red Buds and 3 Magnolia Stellata) by the side entrance area with bench seating for students, teachers, parents and residents to enjoy for many years to come!
